To comprehensively evaluate the acoustic performance of the material, the concept of SAIL (Synthesized Absorption and Insertion Loss) was proposed based on the statistical energy analysis (SEA) method, and it can be calculated by a formula constructed with sound absorption coefficient and sound insertion loss of the material. Furthermore, the sound absorption coefficient and insertion loss of three carpets were tested respectively and SAILs were calculated by the formula. Then a flat plate model and a vehicle model were created, and the simulation analysis method verified that SAIL could be used to efficiently evaluate the acoustic performance of materials.
