The influence of equivalence ratio 'Φ' and temperature 'T' on soot yield was examined using a detailed model for the soot formation. The model is based on a combination of a detailed reaction mechanism to calculate the gas phase chemistry and a detailed kinetic soot model based on the method of moments. N-heptane, benzene, and DMB (dimethyl ether) were taken into account as a fuel. It was found that smokeless Φ-T condition is remarkably broadened especially in oxygenated fuel reactions due to the reduction of both acetylene and PAHs.
