Scroll type Expander for Waste Heat Regeneration System

摘要

Electrical energy regenerating system from vehicle waste heat is under development for one of the lower fuel consumption items. More than half of the fuel energy is wasted in the engine coolant and the exhaust heat. Moreover the amount of waste heat in the engine coolant is larger than that of the exhaust heat during usual drive. Rankine cycle is suitable in regenerating the wasted heat in engine coolant. And the expander is one of the imperative components of the Rankine cycle. The proper methods of the scroll expander design and their effect are discussed in this paper.
