A study of exhaust emission improvement from diesel engines by oxygenated fuels: effect of oxygenated fuel on diesel exhaust emissions

We studied about effects of oxygenated fuels on diesel exhaust emissions with three engines approved by short and long term emission regulation in Japan. From the test results, it was found that oxygenated fuels had the reduction effects of PMemissions. As combustion technologies of engine were improved, the effects decreased. Although cleanliness of injection nozzle tended to deteriorate with increasing oxygen content in diesel fuel, it was showed that the deterioration of nozzle cleanlinesshad no effects on emission performance.
