Non-Destructive Study of Texture Heterogeneity

Deformed samples have in general a heterogeneous structure, e.g., the texture and the stress state vary with distance across the sample. It is very useful to study these heterogeneities in a non-destructive way. Such a method for the study of texture heterogeneity is presented in this work. It was tested on model samples having two distinct layers with different textures. Textures of two layers were "separated" by a numerical treatment of the total diffraction signal. Neutron and X-ray diffraction techniques were used. The results are very promising.
