Although this was a fast track project, most of the design had been completed before going out to bid! Site was established in February 1998 and experienced contractors were selected. Progress and costs were closely monitored and sections of the mil were pre-commissioned as/when available. The operating contract was let to Dynatec early enough to enable their operators to become fully familiar with the installation of the equipment during construction and they were fully involved during pre-commissioning and performance testing. Good vendor support, together with the experience gained by the operators, enabled the mill to reach full production and pass the performance test four weeks after ore introduction.
