High pressure grinding rolls are now state of the art for liberating diamonds from the matrix and for grinding iron and chrome concentrates. For the comminution of very hard and highly abrasive gold and copper ores, the demands on the wear protection system are far higher. Process-technological expectations, such as product fineness, output and energy conversion have been achieved, and sometimes even exceeded in industrial installations. The metallurgical advantages have been repeatedly proven on a laboratory scale. Trials on an industrial scale are one of the next steps.
