NIST Chemical Measurement Quality Assurance and Proficiency Testing Programs

The mission of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is to strengthen the U.S. economy and improve quality of life by working with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards. To help meet the needs of U.S. industry and the nation for measurements and standards, NIST provides Standard Reference Materials (SRMs), Standard Reference Data, calibrations, test methods, measurement quality assurance programs, and laboratory accreditation services that assist customers in establishing traceability of their measurement results. This talk will focus on chemical measurement quality assurance and proficiency assessment programs offered by the NIST Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory in the areas of Environmental Monitoring, Healthcare/Clinical Chemistry and Forensics. Examples will be provided to demonstrate how customers are using their participation and performance in these programs to address regulatory requirements and/or meet their measurement traceability needs.
