摘要

This paper presents a concept of damping system for Interconnected structures for reduction of seismic response of APWR nuclear reactor buildings. This is a sort of passive energy dissipation system consisting of dampers interconnecting adjacent structures standing on a single base-mat. Due to response differences of the structures, there may be relative displacement on the dampers during earthquakes. The dampers are tuned to be optimal for reduction of seismic responses, where dynamic analyses of the system are used. Finally, based on the analysis result, a principal design of the system is presented.
