Robust approximate methods to estimate J-integral for circular-ended notches are described in this paper. The Generalized Local Stress Strain (GLOSS) method is used to determine the notch root stress/strain and to estimate the J-integral for circular-ended notches. The robust J estimates are also compared with elastic-plastic finite element analysis results.
