Extension Linkages with Research, Production, and Credit Institutions

When we discuss linkages, we usually say that the farmer is the center of activity and that we should look for the linkage with the farmer or the service to the farmer. I would like to shift these roles slightly to put extension in the limelight. Whenwe talk about linkages with farmers, there is no doubt for the individuals or the institutions concerned that the extension service or extension staff must be involved. However, it is important to determine the extent to which all these institutions will be involved, and how. This question is the essence of the issue, and once this is clear one knows how to move ahead.
