The-Development of Medical Physics in Vietnam: The Past, the Present and the Future

摘要

In the past five years, many hospitals in Vietnam have installed modern medical units, especially for diagnostic imaging and cancer treatment. Demand for the human resources in medical physics increases quickly. Efforts of developing medical physics education programs have been made in Vietnam for many years. However, the country still lacks well-trained and certified medical physicists. Their roles and responsibilities in hospitals have not yet well understood by the society. This paper reports the status of medical physics training in Vietnam. We also introduce the medical physics undergraduate program at the University of Science, VNU-HCM and discuss the development of education and training of medical physicists in Vietnam for the future.
