E- Learning based Evaluation Tool for Performance Improvement in Technical Courses for Higher Education

In recent decades, technology has evolved with enormous pace to meet the challenges and demands posed by the world. In 21st century technology has made rapid advancement. Technical education which is the backbone of technological advancement has to bear the load and compete with the pace of advancement which can be perceived in the syllabi and curriculum up-gradation. Also, there is an immediate need to impart and assess how well technical education is being delivered. An engineering graduate learns around 40 different courses during his/her 4 years graduation degree having about 60-70% courses with numerical as their base. There are various courses with different numerical operations, it becomes challenging for faculty members to efficiently impart the fundamentals and assess the performance in short span of around 15 weeks. In this work, we are proposing E-learning based evaluation tool which will efficiently assess the student's performance and help the student to recollect and assimilate the concept of typical numerical based courses. We have taken the case study of a course named Signal and Systems of third year electronics engineering for sample basis. The course was taught to 79 students and we applied our tool to assess them, which showed us improvement in their performance with each assessment.
