The paper studies the effect of dispersed grain structure on the magnetic behavior of carbon steels with different carbon content. Among the magnetic parameters, maximum magnetic permeability proves to be the most sensitive to grain size variation. It is demonstrated that, for hypereutectoid carbon steel, magnetic parameters become less sensitive to grain size variation. For eutectoid steel, the effect of finely dispersed cementite precipitations on magnetic behavior prevails over the effect of grain structure dispersion.
