Based on the profound changes in the teaching methodology and learning assessment that has meantfor teaching faculty staff implementing Higher Education Area (EHEA), from the research groupEducation and Citizenship of the Balearic Islands University was presented, for the current academicyear 2012-2013, a teaching innovation project (awarded and funded by the Education SciencesInstitute of the same university) based on the proposal of an educational activity-evaluative addressedto first year students at the Faculty of Social Work Degree. This activity was part of the contentprovided through a compulsory curriculum entitled "Documentation and Scientific Communication",focused on acquiring and improving information skills of university students: identifying informationneeds, locating and evaluating academic information sources, the information management andcommunication and dissemination of new knowledge, once generated, through academic work. Inorder to enhance both the involvement of students in their own learning process, such as theacquisition of knowledge involved through self-employment (essential in the new undergraduate)students raised the production of two video tutorials (one initial, preliminary development of coursecontent, and a final, after all the teaching / learning and performed at the end of the academicsemester) based search and localization of three scientific papers in electronic form. This activity, infact, has become a tool for assessing the teaching methodology, based on the evaluation andassessment of student learning and focus on the level of understanding of course content, while it hasanother element of the learning tutoring throughout the semester, through monitoring of the work ofstudents and consultation. Thus, the proposed activity (and presented in this work, together with theresults obtained from it) has allowed, on one side, a scale of search skills and location of students'academic documentation (through delineation of different dimensions to be analyzed for assessing theresulting video tutorials) and secondly, has served for the evaluation of the students meaningfullearning, and for the detection of possible improvements and potential teachers modifications of thesubject content in which the activity is limited.
