Over the last decade there has been growing concern over the effect of playing computer games on the wellbeing of young people. With the rise of esports, a cooperative style of team orientated competitive gaming. This study seeks to identify the positive behavioural changes that competing in an esports school tournament can bring. By utilising two dimensions, the friendship dimension and the personal growth dimension this study developed and used an adapted Bales' Interaction Process Analysis (IPA) to identify how these school-based tournaments are a vehicle for positive behavioural change in the participating students. This study took place within the UK High School educational system with a student age range on 12-19.
