The use of technologies is a project designed to improve visiting experiences for all types of audiences and making visits to the museum an even richer, more vibrant, satisfying and unforgettable experience. Using technologies is aimed at facilitating knowledge about its exhibits, and allows visitors to choose personalised tours while sharing and enhancing their experience, both before and after the visit to the Museum. Free Wi-Fi network is available in all exhibit areas, covering 3.500+ m~2. Digital captions on 9 and 7 inch tablets, with backlit touch displays, have been implemented, allowing caption contents to be accessible to all, including the visually impaired. A total of 200 mobile TAGs (bidimensional codes similar to QR code) are deployed inside the Museum and in the other venues, with another additional 50 bearing the accessibility symbol, and endowed with NFC proximity technology, which allow access to audio descriptions, in particular for visitors with sensorial disabilities. An installation has been created with a projection of the Panorama of Turin, a view from the Panoramic Terrace, enriched with historical silent films made in the city. The showing of historic films and the use of a 270° circular screen is controlled by touching a tactile surface, with three common gestures to pan, to zoom and to play films. www.makingof.it, the Museum's crowdfunding site, has been developed to raise funds for projects which could not be made without the direct contributions of fans and cinephiles. This project was intended to mark a significant advancement of the Museum communication strategy and user experience, therefore there are few scientific references; however, a benchmarking research has been conducted during the design phase. The digital strategy was internationally recognized as innovative, so far this project has gained the MuseumNext innovation Award 2014, Smau Torino and Milano 2014 Awards, was presented in a workshop at Communicatingthemuseum Sidney 2014 and at Arteq Conference Milano 2015.
