BAM approach for fire resistance testing in extreme fire scenarios was introduced. Fills a gap between jet fire tests and ablative coatings tests. Small scale, extreme and adjustable temperatures. A ceramifying high performance coating was investigated. Open questions (adhesion, aging, shrinkage,...). Good mechanical resistance under direct flame impingement. Magnificent protection performance in extreme fires. Morphology development of high performance coatings in an extreme fire scenario was analyzed by uCT. Cell number decreases until at equilibrium temperature. Cell size distribution is not significantly affected.
