A high temperature transducer was manufactured using a special type of Lithium Niobate (LN) crystal as the piezoelectric crystal. The transducer was shown to work at 600°C. This suggests that the transducer can be used to perform Ultrasonic Guided Wave (UGW) testing on pipes at high temperatures. To attach the transducers to the high temperature pipe work during field trials a transducer collar array was manufactured from high temperature materials. The collar had comparable performance to a commercial system at ambient temperatures.
