MORPHOLOGY OF THE ADRENAL GLAND IN THE DOMESTICATED ADULT GREATER CANE RAT (THRYONOMIS SWINDERIANUS, TEMMINCK 1827)

The morphology of adrenal glands of the greater cane rats (Thryonomys swinderianus) was studied in order to contribute to the on-going attempts to understand its biology and responses to the tropical domestic environment. A total of seven adult male greater cane rats, aged from 10-14 months, with an average weight of 1.89 kg (range: 1.6 -2.2 kg) were used in this study. Routine histological and electron microscopic techniques were utilized in this investigation.
