Choosing a Living Environment for a Relative with Dementia: Developing a Decision-Aid for Family Carers Based on a Systematic Review of Qualitative Studies

摘要

The aim of this study was to develop a decision-aid for family carers having to choose a new livi-ng environment for a relative with dementia. A systematic review of qualitative studies was performed to explore the main concerns of carers during this decision-making process. Thematic synthesis was used to extract the major themes emerging from selected papers. Based on the results of the thematic analysis, a concise decision-aid, the DAC-CLERD was created. This systematic approach allowed the development of a preliminary version of this decision-aid to help healthcare professionals better support family carers.
