The presence of materials with properties similar to fibers in the mass of solid waste such as plastics and textiles, promote shear resistance of the waste mass deposited in landfills, but these materials changes its properties over time. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the influence of the leachate on the tensile strength of the soft plastic over time in different situations. It will also be examine if there is variation in pH, COD (chemical oxygen demand), volatile acids, ammonia nitrogen and phosphorus, over time, at the leachate storage conditions (low temperature, humidity and absence of light). It was observed that there is variation in the tensile resistance supported by the plastic strips as a function of its contact over time with the leachate. It was noted, for physical and chemical analysis of the leachate, that the pH remained alkaline in all analyzes, and other parameters varied according to the initial values.
