Lymph node metastasis of Siewert type II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction: Analysis using therapeutic value estimation formula

We examined the therapeutic impact of lymph node dissection in patients with Siewert type II adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction (EGJ).Patients and MethodsOne hundred and twenty-three Japanese patients with Siewert type II adenocarcinoma who underwent potentially curable resection were enrolled in this study. The therapeutic value was estimated by multiplying the incidence of metastasis by the percentage five-year survival of patients with metastasis for each lymph node group (Sasako et al., Br J Surg 1996).
