摘要

The City of Calgary is located in western Canada in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Available water resources are limited. Since 2006, the provincial government has placed a moratorium on new applications for water allocations in the Bow River Basin where Calgary is situated. Along with the need to achieve 30% greater water use efficiency within 30 years, and reduce urban stormwater flows to local creeks, the City of Calgary embarked on a study to establish a framework of sustainable water management for a new growth area of 5660 hectares (13,986 acres) that will serve as the model for meeting all future water demands. The framework study examines alternate water deployment plans within the Calgary's North Regional Context Study (NRCS) Area, and provides a "roadmap" for guiding a detailed, integrated Water Resource Plan for the NRCS Area.
