WATER RECLAMATION AND REUSE IN THE OIL SANDS REGION OF CANADA

Water resources are strained around the world and the Province of Alberta Canada is no exception. The City of Edmonton, capital of the Province, is situated on the North Saskatchewan River and has a semi- arid continental climate with a wide swing in seasonal temperatures. It has warm summers and cold winters, with the average daily temperatures ranging from - 11. 7°C (10. 9 °F) in January to 17. 5 °C (63. 5°F) in July. Rainfall in the region averages about 480 mm (19 in.) with over 70% of the rain falling in the period from May to September.
