摘要

The Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD) owns and operates the Leo J. Vander Lans Water Treatment Facility (LVLWTF) located in Long Beach, CA. The facility, with a capacity of 3 mgd, uses fine screening, microfiltration (MF), reverse osmosis (RO) and ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation to reclaim Title 22 effluent from the nearby Long Beach Water Reclamation Facility to a quality suitable for direct groundwater injection and for the purpose of preventing seawater intrusion into the Central groundwater basin. All treatment residuals produced at the facility are discharged to the sewer, including backwash from screens and MF, RO concentrate as well as all chemical wastes from MF and RO cleaning. These waste streams, together with ancillary flows from instruments, total approximately 700,000 gpd, close to the existing permitted sewer discharge limit of 760,000 gpd.(794-806)
