The Aztecs founded Tenochtitlan in 1325 in the Mexico Valley (MV). The Indians gained land from the Texcoco Lake and built the city that was later occupied by the Spanish colonialists. For 3 Centuries, the Spaniards developed Mexico City over the same lake using the ancient Tenochtitlan land structure and hydraulic systems (drainage, water supply, etc.).
