Surgical treatment ameloblastomas in our cases

Ameloblastoma is an benign odontogenic locally very aggressive Tu.It is more common in the lower jaw and in 17% cases is associated with an impacted tooth.By applying retrospective analysis we have processed the existing clinical material in the Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic (1983-2008) in Prishtina and Private Policlinic "Oro-Face" in Ferizaj (2001-2008). A total number of 25 patients were treated during this period.Out of this number we had 16 cases or 64% of unicystic ameloblastoma, 7 cases or 28% of multicystic and 2 cases or 8% of malign ameloblastoma. We did not record any case of peripheral ameloblastoma. As far as the Tu localization is concerned, the highest percentage was localized in mandible, a total of 19 patients or 76% of them. The most affected region of the mandible was its body and corner in 31.5% of the cases (diag. 3). Number of patients with Ameloblastoma in the upper jaw was three times lower or only 6 of them or 24%. Out of 25 cases, we had local recurrence in 5 cases or 20% of them. In 3 cases or 12% of them we had alteration of Ameloblastoma into malign ameloblastoma. We had one case of ameloblastoma altering into Ca planocellar.
