The continually rising degree of utilisation of fibre composites poses new challenges to mechanical engineers and plant manufacturers for development and implementation of the respective automation technologies [1,2,3]. The use of fibres as reinforcing materials component has long been known and proven. The fascination of fibre composites is a result of its high property-weight ratio and the possibility of easy manufacture of highly complex structures and components [1]. These materials also offer a wide range of possibilities from the integration of functions. Examples for this are the possibility of adapting acoustic properties or simplifying assembly. The challenge is in the manifold usage possibilities as well as the differential manufacturing methods. The actual material is consolidated to a hard continuum during forming. For this reason, the forming process considerably influences the component features that can be achieved.
