Indeed, based on the proteins found and subsequent use of IPA and GO grouping, patterns emerged which linked cells of hematopoietic lineage. In general, these patterns emerge from their cell to cell interactions and the fact that they are mobile in the blood stream. Functions and pathways related to immunity emerged as a common theme between these cell types. Furthermore, platelets were distinguished from the other cell types based on their specialized function and their role in homeostasis.
