This study is the first to combine detailed information on Fc-glycan status in ACPA enriched samples with simultaneous combined proteome analysis. In addition to confirming the significantly elevated levels of truncated glycans of major abundance in ACPA, novel findings in the glycosylation status in low abundant glycans were found. More research is needed in order to 1) elucidate how potent these glycans are, 2) their potential biological purpose and 3) if they can be directly connected to the complement- and other disease regulatory proteins.
