1. Exposure to GW agents in mice produces anxiety-like features and sensorimotor deficits that are similar to those observed in veterans with GWI and correlate with a presence of astrogliosis, a marker of brain inflammation. 2. Lipidomic analyses show an increase in a number of ether PC supporting modulation of peroxisomal pathways and an increase in MUFA containing PC species compared to others, which suggests a relative increase in stearoyl-CoA desaturase activity in mice exposed to GW agents compared to unexposed mice. 3. Ongoing studies at the Roskamp Institute will further explore these lipidomic findings to determine their value as potential biomarkers of GWI and as potential therapeutic targets for the CNS component of GWI.
