A fast and sensitive LC-MS/MS method was developed to determine MPA, progesterone and allopregnanolone in one sample run. Low MPA and high MPA groups do show MPA concentrations in. serum, which confirms the dose-dependent presence of the drug. Our preliminary data show that, in the MPA treated groups, progesterone and allopregnanolone concentrations decreased compared to animals that did not receive MPA. Therefore, MPA inhibits progesterone and allopregnanolone secretion to some degree. The possible interactions among these compounds and potential. implications on learning and memory deserve further studies.
