1. Identification of different types of alkylations on C178 residue in IDE, and a phosphorylation site in tau was possible. 2. The first reverse ETD experiments using molecular cations are successful. 3. Reactions carried out with the PAHs result in no observable neutral losses from fragments, which makes the data easier to interpret in terms of sequencing. 4. No neutral losses from fragments are probably related to the lower ionization potentials of the PAHs compared to Xe. 5. Some unwanted processes are observed, such as the appearance of peptide-reagent adducts. 6. Our method exhibits potential for improved mapping of post-translational modifications in Alzheimer's disease related proteins such as tau and IDE.
