Malignant histiocytosis (MH) is an aggressive cancer derived from cells of myeloid lineage. Malignant histiocytosis is typically refractory to nearly all forms of conventional chemotherapy and carries a grave prognosis. Since liposome-encapsulated clodronate is known to be highly effective in rapidly depleting normal histiocytic cells (eg, macrophages and monocytes) in mice, we wondered whether canine MH cells might also be susceptible to LC killing.
