Progress of China 6 Legislation for Light-Duty Vehicles

In China, especially in mega cities, to achieve the aim of air quality improvement, the pollutants from vehicles will be reduced rapidly. Besides the regulated emissions, such as PM, NO_x, HC, and evaporation, some other issues are also considered in future regulations. In China 6 legislation of light-duty vehicles, new items will be involved, for example high-active VOCs from refilling, diving and long term parking, NO_x under high load and high speed driving situation and CO/HC/NO_x at low temperature. Also, the real-world emissions are concerned, what will lead to RDE test and new OBD requirements. This legislation adopted most technical contents of EU 6 and WLTP, except OBD is based on 2013 and 2015 EPA regulations, ORVR is similar to EPA, and evaporation requirement is new. However, China 6 is not a mixture of EU and U.S. requirements; it is created basing on China air quality improvement demands, and considering the best available technology. In this presentation, the main contents of this regulation will be introduced.
