Management Of Pressure Sores in 1CU Using Flexi-Sea!~R Fecal Management System.A Series Of Three Cases.

Pressure ulcers in intensive care units is a significant and challenging problem. Flexi-Seal~R Fecal Management System is a fecal diversion and containment system, used in bedridden patients with liquid or semi liquid stool who have fecal incontinence. Here we report the successful management of three patients with established different grades of pressure sores with Flexi-Seal~R which enabled the pressure sores to be healed completely or in the process of healing. These patients had faecal incontinence which soiled the pressure ulcers despite standard nursing care. This is an interesting finding as the FMS is indicated as a fecal diversion and containment system with an objective to protect skin integrity and not the treatment of pressure ulcer per say.
