THE EFFECT OF AIR TEMPERATURE ON PLASMA PROGESTERONE IN HIGH PREGNANT AND FARROWING SOWS

摘要

Rate of decline in plasma progesterone concentration may influence the success of lactogenesis in the sow (1); progesterone withdrawal is necessary to allow parturition (2). This present study is part of a larger experiment, dealing with the effect of changing external and internal air temperature on hormonal profile of sows. Progesterone plasma concentrations in high pregnant and farrowing sows were determinate in relation to different external air temperature.
