ANTIBIOTIC TREATMENTS FOR PRDC: FIELD EXPERIENCE ON THE USE OF DRAXXIN

PRDC cause severe economical losses in swine farming. The losses are due to both mortalities and culled pigs as well as an increase in feed conversion ratio and a notable increase in the cost of drugs. In some farms in the north of Italy, a research project, analysing additional costs for the increased use of medicines, showed that it fluctuated from 7 to 11 EURO, in relation to the type of breeder and the sanitary standards.
