Previous studies would indicate that Attrition (Lights, Deaths and Culls) has a significant impact on the profitability of a grow finish group1 due to the decreasing of pigs that arrive at slaughterhouse with a full value ("Full Value Pigs" - FVP) andthat diseases are a major cause of Attrition'. Other studies showed that the initial prevalence of pathogens within the group plays a central role in the severity of the diseases and also that early interventions can reduce this prevalence3.
