In agreement with the new legislation in energy, Brazil will add 2% (B2) of biofuel in the conventional diesel until 2008. Perhaps this addition can reach 5% (B5). This work consisted of three stages (1) to evaluate the influence of the reaction time, temperature, molar ratio (alcohol/oil) and catalyst concentration in the alkaline methanolysis (NaOH) of the castor oil (biodiesel), identifying the main effects caused by process variables
