The forested area 0stmarka near the city of Oslo is the catchments area for one of the major water utilities serving the capital.A study of raw water from the reservoir and selected minor lakes in the area shows that the water quality has changed significantly from 1983 to 2007..We will here propose and discuss mechanisms of how precipitation quantity and quality influences coloured dissolved organic matter(DOM)species
