摘要

The objective of this project is to characterize site geology and to enhance the knowl- edge and practicality of geologic sequestration and monitoring of CO2. The project is one of three geologic sequestration demonstration sites in the Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (MRCSP) Phase II program. This is a public-private partner- ship funded by the US Department of Energy and the partnership members. The work includes completion of a 2-dimensional seismic survey, prepare a deep well for pilot- scale injection of CO2, and then inject and monitor the site. The project host is the R.E. Burger site, a First Energy coal-fired power plant located in eastern Ohio. The site lies along the Ohio River and provides a research location that is representative of Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Although the site geology presents several challenges, the study site is a fairly typical location for the region.
