The Limits of Blending: Extended Metaphor,Simile and Allegory

@@ This paper does not question the significance and importance of blending theory.It does however want to guard against overgeneralisations of the theory which can only weaken it.If the theory is over generalised it becomes too vague and loose, losing its richness and insights.Allegory in particular will be looked at in the light of blending theory.Allegory is not as such, it will be argued, a blending phenomenon, but blending does provide a series of powerful, striking inputs to allegory.
