Exciting pions in nuclei: DCX and Electroproduction in the resonance region

We describe the double charge exchange (DCX) reaction of pions with different nuclear targetsat incident kinetic energies of 120 — 180 MeV within the GiBLIII transport framework, TheDCX proceun is highly sensitive to details of the interactions of pions with the nuclear mediumand, therefore, represents a major benchmark for any model of pion scattering off nuclei at lowand interniediatc energies. We achieve a good quantitative agreement with the extrusive data setobtained at LAMP,. Furthermore, we present first results on electron scattering off nuclei for beamenergies of 7101-1 3tttl MeV and virtualities of Q2 < 700 MeV'. Including quasi-elastic and pion-prodliction processes and employing in-inedi11111 kinematics and realistic hion factors, we evaluateinclusive cross stgitions and compare to data obtained at the ADONE storage ring (Frascati).
