Design and Construction of the Chao Phraya River Cable-Stayed Bridge

The Chao Phraya River Crossing of the South Outer Bangkok Ring Road (SOBRR) is located on the south side of Bangkok, Thailand. The main span of the bridge is 500 m. This bridge has two A-shaped towers. The steel composite superstructure is built integral to the 6 anchor piers. Design provides access to all major bridge components, such as cable anchors in the tower and edge girder that allows inspection without any special equipment or falsework. Construction started in 2004 and the structure has been completed in May 2007. The contractor uses twin erection gantry to erect each superstructure segments.
