Brains of maternal exposed mice to titanium dioxide (TiO_2) nano-particles showed caspase-3 positive cells diffusely, swelling of astrocytes' endfoot, and apoptosis of endothelial cells. The cytoplasmic granules of granular perithelial cell had nano-sized particles. These findings indicate that exposure of pregnant mice to TiO_2 has a severe impact on fetal brain development and carries a great risk of atrophy. Our results reveal that maternal exposure to TiO_2 is extremely hazardous to fetuses' health and it is possible that these damages at fetal period cause various disorders of nervous system afterward.
