Chemical Compositions of Organic Matter in China Ball Clay and Lignite from a Ball Clay Deposit from South West England

The demand for ball clays for its various applications depends on their unique and consistent combinations of physical properties. However, their chemical properties have been less thoroughly investigated by the clay mining and clay processing industries. The work described in this communication is part of a larger project that investigates the chemical properties and compositions of clay and lignite materials, and the nature of clay-humic and lignite-humic complexes in clay and in lignite deposits, respectively.
