In a normal light weight wooden flooring structure, the beams-distance is 600 mm and interconnected with the aid of floor panels and ceiling panels. In such a flooring structure, the individual beams co-operate via the panels so that the footstep sound is transferred from the entire surface of the ceiling towards adjacent areas. This paper presents a flooring structure having improved footstep insulation. The solution is that the flooring structure only reacts locally to a dynamic loading, such as a footstep. In this new type of flooring structure the wooden beams are placed considerably closer to one another compared to prior wooden floor structures. The distance between the beams is less than the height of the individual beams, however, not placed completely together. When a dynamic loading is applied on this semi-homogeneous flooring structure, only the beam placed directly beneath the point of impact will be affected.
