摘要

In the present study, the possibility of infiltration process for the fabrication of open cell Al foams using removable hollow ceramic granules was examined. These granules provide burnable inner materials and insulating surface. After preheating, the granules became hollow and this eased their later removal from the solid composite. The relative density of open cell Al foams produced by this method is in the range of 20-40 percent , and the compressive strength is in the range of 0.5-1.5 MPa.
